Hi. My name is Jennifer and I’m obsessed with clay.
But I haven’t always been. For the longest time, I was searching… Searching for something that made we want to jump out of bed in the morning and take on the world. But this search took me awhile (maybe you can relate? Maybe you’re still searching?). Trust me, I tried it all: yoga, hiking, painting, reading, cooking. Even knitting. And don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing I enjoy more than an evening flow or an early morning jog; but I still hadn’t felt that passion or that fierceness that I would see so often in others.
And then it happened.
I had always wanted to try pottery. I’m one of those people who has a million different mismatched mugs that I’ve collected from various markets and second-hand stores. But university was a crazy time in my life, and it wasn’t until a few years after graduation that I decided to finally give it a go. Little did I know that doing so would completely change my life.
The birth of Yucca Stone
Yucca Stone is my passion project. It's a collection of simple, functional handmade ceramics largely inspired by my travels to some of America’s most stunning landscapes, such as Joshua Tree National Park and the Grand Canyon.
It’s raw. It’s textured. It’s deep greens, rich reds and matted whites. It’s that Saturday morning coffee on the beach and it’s that road trip to the desert with the windows down and the music blasting. It’s me, at my core. Yes, it’s a little scary putting yourself out there, but I’ve come to believe that embracing the unknown is better than always wondering what could have been.
So here we go. Come along for the ride. I hope you enjoy.
